After returning with a bang in 2021, the World's Greatest Half Marathon is officially back on the sporting calendar, and you can secure your place now for the 2022 race, which will take place on Sunday 11 September.

Join us in Newcastle alongside over 57,000 other runners to follow the 13.1 mile iconic route, as it returns to its iconic route to finish along the sea front in South Shields.

The distance may seem daunting, but the carnival atmosphere on the day more than makes up for it. This event is a crown jewel of North East sport and culture, as thousands of people line the streets to cheer on the runners. You don’t need to be a future Olympian to enter – but you will need to be someone who loves a challenge and to make memories. I mean, you won't find many runs where Mo Farah, a smurf and a rhino can tackle the same course.

How to sign up

You can sign up to the event via one of North East Autism Society's charity tokens, which will guarantee you a place on the start line. These tokens cost £50 per person and you will be asked to raise £400 in sponsorship - a tenner for each year that NEAS has been supporting autistic people across the North East.

You'll receive a free Autism Acceptance running vest to wear on the day, a participant's pack filled with training, nutrition and fundraising advice and help and support from a dedicated member of the fundraising team.

To join Team NEAS, fill out your details in the "Book a Place" section below, complete your payment and a member of the fundraising team will be in touch in due course. Please note, this only confirms your place with North East Autism Society - you will then receive a link to complete your registration for the race with the Great Run Company.

Ballot Places

The general entry ballot for the Great North Run is now closed. If you were successful in securing your own place in the run via the ballot, you can still join Team NEAS - simply click the button below, fill the form out and we'll welcome you aboard!

You'll receive all the same perks as our charity token runners, including running vest and training pack, and there will be no sponsorship target for you to aim for - please just raise what you can!
