It’s the world’s favourite half marathon, it’s a hit with celebrities and sports stars alike, and on Sunday 13th, September, 2020 it’s happening on our doorstep.

This September will mark 40 years of the Great North Run, a milestone that coincides with the 40th anniversary of The North East Autism Society (NEAS). As part of this anniversary celebration we would like to build our biggest and best Great North Run team yet.

Join with the 56,000 runners taking part in the 13.1 mile iconic run stretching from Newcastle, along the coast finishing at South Shields.

The distance may seem daunting, but the carnival atmosphere on the day more than makes up for it. You don’t need to be the next future olympian to enter – but you will need to be someone who loves a challenge and to make memories. I mean, you won't find many runs where Mo Farrah, a smurf or a rhino can tackle the same course.

How to sign up

If you would like to sign up for GNR 2020 Please drop us an email or give us a call on 0191 410 9974 if you have any problems or if you have any queries about running for NEAS.

Ballot Places

If you have been successful in the ballot and would like to run for Team NEAS then please complete the 'Already have your own place' form at the top of this page as soon as possible, so we can send you out a fundraising pack and order your running vest.

Charity Places

If you have been unsuccessful in getting a place in the ballot we have a limited amount of charity places which are available on a first-come first-served basis.

Charity places cost £50 each, and runners are asked to try to raise an ambitious £400 each – a tenner for each year the Society has been there to support North-East families (but registration fee of £50 would be returned if runners raise over £1000).

Time to train! Whether you are a seasoned runner or are using this as your ‘new year new you’ challenge, we want to support you. We will be sending you regular help and training to get you moving in the right direction ahead of the race itself.

You will also receive a fundraising pack, including lots of hints and tips with training and nutrition advice, and a FREE running vest.
