It’s the world’s favourite half marathon, it’s a hit with celebrities and sports stars alike, and on Sunday, September 10, 2017 it’s happening on our doorstep. Yep, it’s that time again.

This year we would like to build our biggest and best Great North Run team yet. Join with the 56,000 runners taking part in the 13.1mile iconic run stretching from Newcastle, along the coast finishing at South Shields.

The distance may seem daunting, but the carnival atmosphere on the day more than makes up for it. You don’t need to be the next future olympian to enter – but you will need to be someone who loves a challenge and to make memories. I mean, you won't find many runs where Mo Farrah, a smurf are a rhino can tackle the same course.

The 2016 team raised more than a whopping £11,500 and we are hoping to double that this year.

How to sign up

Step 1:

Ballot Places

If you want to run for Team NEAS then your first step is to enter the ballot. This means the race organisers will be put your name into a database system which then decides who has been successful or not.

The Great North Run ballot is NOW CLOSED!

You will find out if your ballot application has been successful or not by Thursday 9th February. If you have been offered a place then please get in touch as soon as possible, so we can send you out a fundraising pack.

Step 2:

Charity Places

If you are unsuccessful in getting a place through the Ballot, we have a limited number of charity places which will become available on a first-come first-served basis. Please do get in touch as soon as possible after you have been told you were unsuccessful in the ballot, to guarantee a charity place. We will allocate these from Friday 10th February. These places always go fast.

How to get a charity place:
To secure a charity place, after the ballot closes, follow these simple steps:

Pay registration fee £50

  • We encourage runners to raise a minimum sponsorship of £300 (but registration fee of £50 would be returned if runners raise £1000).
  • Deadline to sign up: July, 4 2017.

We have NOW SOLD all of our charity places. However we will hope to buy extra places during clearing if they become available. We will keep you updated on this.  

Step 3:

Time to train! Whether you are a seasoned runner or using this as your ‘new year new you’ challenge, we want to support you. With the help of a personal trainer, we will be sending you regular help and training to get you moving in the right direction ahead of the race itself.

You will also receive a fundraising pack, including lots of hints and tips with training and nutrition advice, a FREE running vest, entry into a draw to have the chance to win fitness clothing & a fitness bundle from Natural Nutrients. You will also get a finisher’s bag on completing the race.
