The virtual running distance challenges are designed to keep you racking up the miles over a 7 or 28 day period is open to all, and you can choose to take part in a weekly or monthly challenge at the intensity level that is right for you.

How does it work

Whether you choose to take part in a 7-day or a 28-day challenge, all challenges must begin on a Monday and progress should be tracked using a fitness tracker app, such as Strava.

The 7 miles in 7 days challenge can be completed in as many or as few runs as you like.  Simply complete 7 miles in total over the 7 day period to complete the challenge.

There are three 28 day distance challenges ensuring there is a challenge for all – 50k, 100k and 150k.  The challenge is to reach or exceed the distance total over the 28 day challenge period. This can be done in as many or as few runs as you like.

The Junior challenge is for runners aged 14 and under.  The challenge is to complete 7km in 7 days and this total can be completed in as many or as few runs as you like.

Remember to log your results on the Great Run website up to 14 days after you have completed your challenge, to be eligible to receive your very own Great Run Solo medal.
