Will your school support us?

The week 26th-29th March is Autism Awareness Week and as the region’s foremost autism organisation we would love for you to join with us again in raising awareness of the neurodevelopmental condition affecting 1 in 100 people across the UK.

This year as part of our Autism Awareness Week activities we are offering schools across the North-east an opportunity to win a visit from our giant blue mascot, Pawsum the Panda.

During Pawsum’s visit one of our family development team will also deliver an autism awareness session for primary-age pupils, either classroom-based or as an assembly, designed to help children know more about autism and to relate to their classmates, friends and family members who may have an autism spectrum condition.

To be eligible to be included in the draw to host Pawsum on Tour all you need to do is register your school to take part in Autism Awareness Week, through Bad Hair Day or something similar like a dress down day perhaps. Every participating school will receive an education and fundraising pack.

How Bad Hair Day works?

In return for a donation to the charity, you invite your pupils to attend school on a specific date with ‘Bad Hair’. This can be as simple or as extreme as you allow! From spiking their hair, to colouring it or just wearing a fun wig, how the child develops his or her bad hair is part of the fun.

When is Bad Hair Day?

April is officially Autism Awareness Month, however you can decide when you would like to stage your ‘Bad Hair Day' (there is space on the posters we will send you for you to add your own date). However we are encouraging as many people to get involved during World Autism Awareness Week, which is the 26th-29th March this year.
