We launced a competition earlier this month with the theme ‘Creative Skills’; this was open to interpretation for our young people and adults who submitted artwork, sculptures, poems, stories and even dance routines to showcase their skills. Vision Education sponsored the competition and provided the awards for the winners.

Gavin Bestford, Chairman for the North East Autism Society and Brian Stoker, Head of Adult Care judged the competition. First prize went to Lauren Stephens aged 19 from Stanley, who attends North East Centre for Autism School in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.




Christine Dempster, Director of Education at NEAS said; “The creative skills competition is a way to increase participation and provides an opportunity to showcase the talents of our service users across the Society. I am delighted with the enthusiasm and motivation from everyone involved in the project.”

The charity hopes to open the competition to other organisations next year to make it in to a regional event.
